The HWBOT World Tour continued yesterday (or earlier this morning depending on where you live) with the amateur, or ambient stages of the Sao Paulo – 2017 event. The combatants were of course attendees at the Campus Party in Sao Paulo, Brazil. All attendees were invited to learn the basics of system tweaking and then encouraged to try and score as highly as possible in the Intel XTU benchmark. The great news is that this year the team saw a record 151 amateurs make a submission on the OC-ESPORTS platform, beating last years’ figure of 143.
All overclockers were pushing rigs with Intel Core i7 7700K processors, Z170X-Gaming 5 motherboards from GIGABYTE, DDR4 memory and SSDs from HyperX and of course PSUs from World Tour partner Seasonic. At the end of the three day contest the World Tour Sao Paulo 2017 Ambient contest scoreboard looked like this:
You can check out the contest page on OC-ESPORTS here to view all submissions from all 151 overclockers. We can see that an all local turnout ended with fibranet taking the win with a total for the week of 2,758 XTU points. Congrats to you. The top six who were available to compete on the last day of the tournament were invited to compete on a 1v1 format.
After a preliminary round where RafaelMeega managed to beat LuanArus with an XTU score of 2,525 points to his opponent’s 2,497 points, a Semi-Final tie was setup between Vailafilhao and RafaelMeega. On the other side of the brackets we saw LucasCross1 score a very impressive 2,725 XTU points, ousting Fibranel on 2,527 points. This then setup a Semi-Final clash between LucasCross1 and Dann007.
In Semi Final 1LucasCross1 managed a score of 2,699 after the standard two runs, swapping systems mid way. This was not enough to overcome Dan007 who hit 2,724 points. Semi Final 2 saw RafaelMeega take on Vailafilhao. In the end it was Vailafilhao who stormed to victory with 2,733, the highest score of the tournament so far.
In the Final 1v1 match Vailafilhao faced Dan007. With some great prizes at stake from the contest partners the atmosphere was at its most tense. Dan007 eventual won the Championship with the highest score of the entire contest, managing a score of 2,755 points across two XTU runs. Vailafilhao could muster only 2,555 XTU points. Here are the final brackets.
The prizes on offer included a HyperX DDR4 Predator memory kit for the winner, GIGABYTE Z170M-D3H motherboards for the winner and the runner-up and HyperX Savage SSDs for the top three. Congrats to all the amateur Overclockers that took in the biggest Ambient Championship of the HWBOT World Tour 2017 so far. Well done to all 151 Overclockers who made scores. A special shout to Dan007 who could just be a star of the future in the making.
