Computex 2015 – Taipei, Taiwan – June 6th to 8th

Introduction

2015 marked the first year of the HWBOT World Tour. With its headquarters in Taipei, Taiwan, the Computex 2015 tradeshow proved to be the ideal settings for the Asia leg of the tour. Many of the world’s best and most respected overclockers were invited to Taipei for the week-long show so made perfect sense to organize a HWBOT World Tour event on the weekend following the show.

Held on the 6th, 7th and 8th of June 2015, the event was again hosted at the Taipei Maker Bar. The event consisted of three distinct elements:

  • Extreme OC Gathering: Basically a BYOC bench party with no restrictions, and unlimited LN2.
  • World Series competition: OC Gathering attendees were invited to compete in an Extreme Overclocking contest with cash and hardware prizes for the winners.
  • ASUS ROG OC Showdown Area: ASUS along with HyperX, Seasonic, and Dimastech invited all attendees to overclock to try and break World Records for cash prizes and ultimately, fame.

It’s important to note that Overclockers of all levels and abilities were open to attend the Computex 2015 HWBOT World Tour event. The main purpose of the event was to offer a relaxed environment for overclockers to socialize, plus a platform for some competitive, Extreme Overclocking.

Hardware Support

Due to the fact that none of the participants is expected to “drive” to Taiwan for this event, the event partners ASUS ROG, HyperX and Seasonic are providing hardware such as motherboards, graphic cards, memory kits and PSUs on loan for participating overclockers. The rule of one item per person, and first arrived first served applies to reserve a hardware set for yourself. All details on how to reserve the gear are to be found in your ticket reservation email.

Who can attend this event? Everyone! From Rookie to Elite, to new overclockers! Visitors and Media are also welcome.

What is planned? A full 3-days weekend (including Saturday and Sunday all-night) of overclocking, the HWBOT World Series competition, and exclusive access to the ASUS ROG OC Showdown Area

Where is it exactly? MakerBar Taipei, Taiwan – No. 9 5F, Section 1, Jinshan S Rd or 台北市中正區金山南路一段9號5樓

When is it exactly? You can bring over your gear and pick a spot on Friday evening from 6pm onwards. You can start setting up on Saturday morning (June 6th) from 10am. Packing / Departure on Monday (June 8th) from 5pm.

Is there any limitations for extreme overclockers attending? No limitations on hardware. This is a BYOC event, so please come with all the necessary gear. We provide LN2 for all “BenchSpot – Individual LN2 Overclocking Pass” ticket holders. We provide seating, power and WiFi. We don’t provide hardware for extreme overclockers participating in the World Series competition. But event partners have a few set of hardware that can be used on loan. First come, first served. A ticket is required to participate to any of the activities proposed such as the HWBOT World Tour competition as well as the ASUS ROG OC Showdown area.

BYOH (Bring Your Own Hardware), what should I bring? All the hardware you plan to bench (please label your gear!). That include: Power bar to accommodate all your power needs (US format, 110V) (We might have a few 220V lines, make sure your US format power bars can handle the voltage!!!), Complete OC equipment (pots, insulation, thermal flasks, etc.), Display: we will have displays for everyone, so don’t bring your own!

What about food / drinks ? Some snacks and refreshments will be made available during the event. For larger means, the district offers several options (Coffee places, Restaurants, Brunch, etc.). Alcohol is not permitted on the premises.

I want to assist an LN2 overclocker there and/or bench together, do I also need a ticket? Yes. Due to space limitations, 1 ticket = 1 person.
